{"id":843,"date":"2014-12-17T10:50:58","date_gmt":"2014-12-17T10:50:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mch.mc\/en\/accueil-chirurgical\/"},"modified":"2015-09-10T09:25:37","modified_gmt":"2015-09-10T09:25:37","slug":"accueil-chirurgical","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mch.mc\/en\/actions\/accueil-chirurgical\/","title":{"rendered":"SURGICAL TREATMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The goal of the Collective is to offer treatment in Monaco to children whose heart disorders are inoperable in their countries of origin.<\/strong> Treatment is also available for certain orthopaedic disorders.<\/p>\n<p>The project has the support of Monegasque hospitals and medical centres:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Center (CCM)<\/li>\n<li>The Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG)<\/li>\n<li>The Monegasque Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery (IM2S)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>all of which make their best specialists available at no charge and cover part of the hospitalisation costs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The children\u2019s journey<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Identifying a sick child<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A doctor from the country of origin identifies a child whose heart or orthopaedic disease cannot be treated in his\/her own country and sends the file to MCH.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Transferring the child<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the medical file has been approved, MCH initiates the administrative formalities concerning the child\u2019s travel arrangements by air with an escort from Aviation sans Fronti\u00e8res (ASF). Upon arrival at Nice airport, the child is welcomed by a host family who take care of him\/her on a benevolent basis throughout his\/her stay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Surgical procedure<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Depending on the pathology, the child stays at the health centre between 5 and 10 days, or more, monitored and pampered by the medical staff and host family.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Convalescence at the host family\u2019s home<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The host family stays in contact with the biological family. Once the discharge visit has taken place, the return trip is near.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Return home<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An ASF escort accompanies the child on the flight home and hands him\/her over to his\/her family upon arrival at the airport. I really don\u2019t know how to express my thanks, the only thing I can say is thank you, thank you from my family and friends too, thank you to my host family, to the staff at the Cardio Thoracic Centre in Monaco and everyone I met.
